When my daughter was in Girl Scouts, she learned a lot of silly songs. One of them was about Hermy the Wormy. The song starts out telling about Hermy, and Jessie would hold her hands just a few inches apart to indicate his size, and exclaim, "Hermy, baby, what happened?!?" Hermy would sadly reply, "I ate my brother." In the next verse, Jessie's hands would be farther apart, because Hermy had eaten his sister; and in subsequent verses her hands would get farther and farther apart, as Hermy ate his parents and grandparents! In the last verse, Jessie's hands would suddenly be back to their original distance apart. "Hermy, baby, what happened?" "I burped."
