The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. In some ways this looks like a surreal underwater scene, with some unfamiliar-looking plant being pushed to and fro by the current. The reality is much more prosaic -- this digital image started out as a photo of bobby pins which have been pulled and twisted in my photo editing software to form this beautiful image.
